Programs & Services
We provide a well-rounded, rigorous K-8 education rooted in the Core Knowledge Sequence, emphasizing a rich, content-based curriculum that builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our classical approach integrates language arts, math, science, history, and the arts, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning for all students. In addition to our core curriculum, we offer a variety of programs and services to support the diverse needs of our students. Below is an overview of these offerings:
Counseling
ACS offers comprehensive counseling support to help the social, emotional, and academic development of elementary and middle school students. The counseling office provides classroom guidance lessons, parent resources, and student resources to address various aspects of student well-being. These supports aim to create a school environment where students can thrive.
English Language Development
The English Language Development program at Academy Charter School supports students who are Multilingual Learners. The program focuses on building English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to ensure students can fully access academic content. ELD specialists work closely with classroom teachers to provide individualized and small-group instruction, fostering language acquisition and academic success.

Gifted and Talented
ACS is dedicated to high-quality gifted and talented programming that serves as a model for other charter schools in the district, county, and state. The school follows the guidelines set by the Douglas County School District's Gifted Education Department to identify students with exceptional abilities or potential across various domains, including intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude, creative thinking, leadership, and the arts. Once identified, an Advanced Learning Plan is developed to tailor educational programming to each student's strengths and goals.
Reading Intervention
Academy Charter School implements reading intervention services in alignment with the Colorado READ Act to ensure that all students achieve reading proficiency by the end of third grade. The READ Act requires schools to identify students with significant reading deficiencies and provide targeted, evidence-based interventions to close gaps in foundational literacy skills. Students are supported through individualized READ Plans, small group instruction, and progress monitoring, emphasizing phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This program is critical for building strong reading foundations that support academic success across all subject areas.
