Dear Family and Friends of ACS,

I had the pleasure of meeting with our PTO about the Education Expo coming this May. This fundraiser is the major fundraiser of the school year and is taking the place of our Silent Auction. What I love about this fundraiser is the fact that it will be very ACS student-oriented. This day will include several different classes that our kids can register for that are above and beyond our daily curriculum and will be exciting for the kids. This day will not only include these classes, but two snacks and lunch. Please look for more information through the flyers that go home in the student’s Friday folders.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are Thursday, March 16, and Friday, March 17; below is some very important information about conferences:

  • Parents of Elementary students- The Parent/Teacher Conference letters have already been sent home for you to accept or decline the conference time. Please turn them back in to your teacher as soon as possible, so they can get their conference schedules confirmed. Elementary Parents, don’t forget that it is at your Parent/Teacher Conference time that you can discuss or turn in a written request to your student’s teacher if you would like to request a teacher for your student(s) next year. Our teachers do the best they can to honor requests as they complete the class lists for next year; however, we cannot guarantee that a request will be honored, since it is impossible for us to honor all. Thank you for your support with this school policy.
  • Parents of Middle School students- Report cards will be available for parents to pick up at carpool on Thursday, March 16th. Thursday will, once again, be an open time that all parents can visit their student’s teachers. No appointment is necessary and you may visit all classes or the classes you feel you need to. Friday will be Parent/Teacher conferences with parents our Middle School teachers have requested. Parents may also request a conference if they feel they need one. Parent/Teacher Conference letters for Middle School students will be sent home tomorrow (Friday) for you to accept or decline the conference time. If you would like to request a conference with a teacher(s), please call our office to set up an appointment.

Once again, we tried to coordinate Elementary and Middle School times for your convenience. Don’t forget that these days are Early Release days. Students will be released for carpool starting at 12:40. Conferences will start at 1:40 and run until 6:00 each night.

EDUCATION EXPO

This year’s big fundraising event for the school will be the Education Expo, to be held on May 13th from 10-3 p.m. at Academy Charter School.

Registration forms will be coming your way in April, when your child will be able to choose 4 to 5 programs, depending on their age group, to participate in during the day. Parents will check their children into the “day camp” no later than 9:45 a.m. on May 13th, where parents and their child/children will be given a schedule of their child’s programs and times throughout the day, based on what they have chosen from the registration form. Your child will be chaperoned from one program to the next, depending on their choice, and spend 30-45 minutes, depending on their age group, participating in hands-on, educational experiences in programs brought to you by The Butterfly Pavilion, The Denver Zoo, The Children’s Museum, Castlewood Canyon, Theatre of Dreams, Danza Dance Academy, Odyssey of the Minds, Wings over the Rockies Air & Space Museum and a Star Lab. A more detailed description of each program offered by these businesses will be included in your registration form to enable your child to choose the programs that are of the most interest to them. Lunch and two snacks will be included as part of the registration fee. Parents will be invited to come back to the Education Expo at 2:30 p.m., where they can enjoy a free magic show, along with their children, from our local and world-renowned magicians from the Theatre of Dreams.

Volunteers are still needed so please contact Wendy Walker at dwwalker1990@msn.com or at 303-814-9192 if you can volunteer on a committee.

Please help support this new and exciting fundraiser! All net proceeds will go toward the continuing technology needs of the school.
