Dear
Families and Friends of ACS,
Our individual student CSAP results have just arrived and
you will be receiving your student’s reports shortly.
I am very proud of our school results for last year! Of course,

Please remember that these scores are from last year’s
assessments, so to determine how your child’s class
scores are, look at the grade level they were in last year.
Our PTO has already been working hard to organize our fundraisers
for this year! Entertainment Books will be coming home with
your student this Friday. Please support your student(s) in
selling these books, because each book sold means money for
our students, and they do have great savings in them for the
buyers also! PTO also has set the date for our Fall Carnival.
Please mark Saturday, October 29th, on your calendar.
Mrs. Arnell, our Physical Education Teacher and Athletic
Director, is in need of coaches! She is still looking for a
Volleyball and Soccer coach for this Fall Season. If you can
help, please call her as soon as you can at 303-660-4881. I
think we would all be very disappointed if we have to cancel
these programs because we do not have a team coach, especially
our kids! We appreciate your consideration.
Don’t forget that our Governing Board has set the date
for our first parent meeting. It is Monday, August 29th, at
6:00 in our cafeteria. They will be discussing ACS’ financial
situation among other items. Please attend, as this is a very
important meeting.
Have a terrific weekend!

Things are hopping around Academy Charter School! It is so nice
to see parents getting involved right away at the school. If
you are interested in being a Classroom Coordinator, please
talk to your student's teacher to see if that position has
been filled or what other needs they may have.
Mrs. Arnell, our physical education teacher, is still looking
for volunteers to help with her Mileage Club. She needs adult
volunteers during lunch hours to monitor the kids as they work
or run laps for 2 to 3 days a week. Please contact Lisa Arnell
arnelll@academycharter.org if you are interested.
Tennis balls are still needed for the bottoms of the chairs and
desks in classrooms. If you have some or any contacts at tennis
clubs, etc., we still need them!
Mrs. Marsh-Rose and Ms. Heiberger in the Art Room need a volunteer
to put up some simple metal shelving. If you could do this, we
would be most appreciative. Please contact Amy at marsh-rosea@academycharter.org to get the details.
Allan Ross has generously agreed to mow the weeds down on the
outlying property around the school. We would like to have someone
or maybe two or three folks, who could rake and bag up the grass
after it is cut. Allan will be mowing this weekend--any helpers???
I want to thank all the folks who helped us out with registration
this year. Registration is a really big job and we couldn't have
done it without the help of these wonderful volunteers: Ron
and Lettie Lee, Cay Schweers, Joni Kitching, Jean French, Kassie
Smith, Denise Woodward, Keegan Smith, Teri Marsh, Kristy Chadwick,
Beth Whitlow, Dawn Pankonien, Cynthia Heikes, Cheryl Lizotte,
Mauri Mays, Nathaniel Chadwick, Mark Allen and Barbara Ireland---thank
you for making registration easier!
Cyndy Hong has graciously volunteered to make name badges for
our volunteers. Look for these new name badges in the near future.
Thanks, Cyndy, for doing this for school!

Campbell's Soup Labels
Hello and welcome back to school. I hope your
school year has gotten off to a good start! My
name is Sara Johnson and I am the new Campbell's
soup label coordinator. I am replacing Barb Henderson
in this position and I want to thank her for her
volunteer time on this project for the past few
years. She will be helping me to get started this
year.
Recently when I picked up the labels from the
Campbell's soup label container, I noticed a few
minor problems which I would like to address.
When cutting your labels off the soup cans, please
do not cut the front of the label. Cut if off
of the back instead. Campbell's requires me to
send in just the front of the label and if you've
cut the front label, it is invalid. I have taped
a few together and this is okay, but most of them
I've received were shredded and unusable. Some
people are just cutting out the logo with the
pencil and the Campbell's soup kid, but this is
not valid. Please check the poster by the Campbell's
soup container in the lobby for instructions on
label cutting. I have also posted a product eligibility
list for your information. Some products do require
the proof of purchase, like Pepperidge Farm products,
so send these in also. You may log onto www.labelsforeducation.com for more information. If you have any questions,
feel free to call me at 303-688-9006 or email
me at spkrj4hisglory@aol.com.
By saving and redeeming product labels and proofs
of purchase, our school can earn FREE educational
merchandise such as computers, software, sports
equipment, musical instruments, library books
and much more.
Thanks for your attention and please keep sending
in those labels! This is an easy way to get some
volunteer time!

The Governing Board has set up a date and time to meet about
reducing expenses and increasing revenue for ACS and answer
everyone’s questions. The meeting will take place at
6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29 at ACS.
We
hope that the entire community will take this situation seriously,
and get involved
with finding the solutions. A good way to start would be
to attend this very important meeting. We hope to see
a large number of parents and staff members in attendance.
