  • September 19 – PTO Executive Mtg. 6-7PM; 7-8PM General Mtg. – ACS Cafeteria

The PTO would like to extend a special thank you to Tracy Kay, a Wells Fargo employee and ACS parent who kept on top of her employer to honor their commitment for last years Winter Festival. Wells Fargo graciously contributed $300. Thank you, Tracy, for your diligence in helping procure this donation!

The PTO would also like to thank Little Caesar’s restaurant here in Castle Rock for their contribution of $250 for two restaurant nights at the end of the last school year. These were most generous contributions and we wish to encourage ACS families to reciprocate by supporting Little Caesar’s, who has acted as a kind benefactor for our school’s benefit.

Box Top Bertie is always looking for new buddies to keep her company. She’s been feeling a little neglected, so please don’t forget those Box Tops. She loves to see the Box Top box overflowing with box tops because she knows that means more money to ACS. Box Top Bertie wants to remind students and parents that this is an easy way to help ACS, just by cutting off the box tops from your favorite foods. Don’t forget to write your child’s name, grade and teacher on the box tops or slip your box tops into a baggie and write the information one time on the baggie. Remember, fun surprises will be given to 3 “Box Top Bertie Buddies” every month at the ACS assemblies for the most box tops placed in Bertie’s bucket each month.

Dear Parents:
On behalf of the Academy Charter School’s Parent Teacher Organization, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the new school year. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kassie Smith and I am a fellow parent and President of the 2007- 08 PTO.
I hope that you had productive and restful summer.
My husband Scott and I have lived in Castle Rock for 12 years and our son Garrett is excited to be going into 4th grade this year. We have been at ACS since Garrett started kindergarten and my husband has had two sisters and one brother graduate from ACS. Last year I was co-classroom coordinator and had a wonderful year helping out in Mrs. Solomon’s 3rd grade class. This year is going to be exciting but also very challenging and I am looking forward to working with the other members of the PTO, for you, and for ACS.
The PTO is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the students by engaging in fundraising projects and supporting various student enrichment activities.
In the past the PTO has sponsored many fundraisers to help support our school, however this year, based on the 2006-07 survey, we are moving to direct donations and are very eager to see how well this works. The PTO is in the planning stages of many exciting events for this year, such as Movie Nights, and a Spring Yard Sale, but we can’t do anything without your help!
Without parents there would be no “P” in PTO. There are so many opportunities for you to volunteer and help our school. Some of them include helping organize events, assisting during events or just attending the meetings. I realize that your time is precious to you and your family, but any help you might be able to give our PTO and our school would be greatly appreciated, so please mark your calendars for the year’s first PTO general meeting. It will be held on Wednesday, September 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,
Kassie Smith
ACS PTO President

Attend the September 19th PTO meeting and enjoy a pizza dinner with your family and FREE babysitting for the meeting following dinner! In lieu of our restaurant nights this school year, we are providing dinner for our busy ACS families at each PTO General Meeting.
Dinner will start at 6:15pm and run until 6:55pm at which time you can drop your kiddos off downstairs for FREE babysitting by the 8th graders! The General Meeting will last approximately 1 hour.
Little Caesar’s Pizza is the featured restaurant for this meeting. Please look in your Friday folder for your pre-order form so we know how much to order!
Please come support our school. Your input is needed at our PTO general meeting on September 19th (Remember each family is required to attend one meeting a year and it also counts towards volunteer time!).

Family special: Box of pizza with 4 drinks, $10

PTO Enrichment is responsible for providing supplementary, enriching cultural experiences. This year we are hoping to provide a variety of programs. These programs include, Mad Science, Abrakadoodle,
Tae Kwon Do, and golf! Stay tuned for more, later in the year! Please pay close attention to the monthly PTO newsletter. This is how we will be communicating coming events and the need for volunteers, if necessary. If you have any suggestions or special talents that you would like to share with the students please feel free to let us know! Thank you for all of your support!

We need your help!!
Every month we have the opportunity to feed our fantastic teachers! To show our appreciation to them we bring in breakfast the last Friday of the month. We also provide a luncheon for them twice a year around conference times.
Please look for our sign up sheets on the PTO board or give us an e-mail that you are interested in helping out. The great part, you are able to get your volunteer hours in!! Just keep track of how long it took you to prepare your meal or picking items up. Our teachers truly look forward to these meals. We have some amazing chefs out there!
Put these dates on your calendar:
August 31st
September 28th
October 25th & 26th Luncheon
November 30th
January 25th
February 29th
March 27th & 28th Luncheon

Thank you for your support this year in helping provide funds for classes and departments.

Don’t forget to check out the teacher “Wish Lists” located on the ACS website. This is a great way to support the teachers and departments for the extra needs and wants that make the teachers jobs easier and more creative, and ultimately make our students learning experience even more fun.

ACS NEEDS YOU! If you have your own business or work for a large corporation, ACS needs you. We need your support in any and all areas you can think of. Many corporations have the ability to match donations or make donations, and you might not even know it. Sometimes all it takes is you proving you are volunteering and your company can donate to your school. We need you to go to your Human Resources Department or your boss and ask them how that company can give back to your school. Tell us what we can do to facilitate the donation, and we will do all we can to assist your business. We can provide any documentation needed for a tax write-off. Please contact us and let us know how you and your company can help ACS.

As a final Thank You to our business supporters, each is listed below. Please continue to support the Businesses that support ACS. For more information, review your Business Directory, or go to www.AcademyCharter.org and click on Business Directory. (This newly created partnership fundraiser generated money for the School and will continuing in the 2007-2008 school year.)
