The PTO will have one more General Meeting for the current school
year, on May 3rd at 6pm in the cafeteria. Please notice that
this date has been changed from our original schedule.
The PTO will update the public regarding the two budget requests
submitted to the PTO ($27k 20 laptops for the middle school;
and $30k curriculum K-5), as discussed at the April 5th General
Meeting.
The end of the school year is in sight, but we are still in
need of raising money for this school year, which is why there
are still two more fundraisers before the end of the school year:
Brain Quest and Flowers. We are very excited to introduce Brain
Quest for the students. We appreciate the Deans and teachers
support and excitement too. We made every effort not to burden
the teachers with any extra work, so we simplified the process
as much as possible. It has been fun getting the teachers input
and participation in this new fundraiser, and we hope the students
have fun while learning!
Our last fundraiser will be selling flowers. This is our final
push of the year and it is greatly needed to ensure that next
year's board starts out with money to operate as well as be able
to cover any immediate expenses.
In response to the PTO section of the school survey, where parents
were confused as to why money continued to be raised, while the
money we've earned was not being spent, you must understand the
PTO's procedure for spending money: First of all, the PTO strongly
feels that any expenditures made should be in the best interest
of the school. The PTO has always felt that the Governing Board,
Deans, teachers and staff were the channel for the PTO and parents
understanding what the needs of the school are. We have continued
to strive to keep the lines of communication open with everyone
within the school. Secondly, the PTO voted in September to set
aside $42k in cd's for curriculum, technology, field repair and
emergencies. However, until a formal request is made, the PTO
can not spend money just because we have it. Fortunately, as
mentioned above, we now have two requests being evaluated. The
PTO does not have enough money at this point to fund both requests,
which is why the PTO and Governing Board are working closely
together to ensure that both needs are met.
So, please remember, our school will always be in need of fundraising
whether through direct donations or conventional ways, by the
sheer nature of being a charter school. However, until a request
is formally made by the Governing Board, teachers, staff, Deans
or a parent, the money is not spent. The PTO makes every effort
to ensure that the money you work so hard to raise and contribute
is spent wisely for our school, so that we don't end up with
a looming need that can't be met because of an unwise expenditure.

Our next General Meeting is scheduled for May 3rd. This
will be the final General Meeting of the school year.
Please remember that part of the twenty-hour volunteer
requirement for ACS families is to attend one PTO Meeting
during the
school year!
Agendas for all meetings will be posted on the PTO Board
just inside the school entrance at least five days before
each meeting. The PTO Board is pleased to work with the 8th
grade class in providing free babysitting services during
our General Meetings for the rest of the school-year.

ACS DIRECTORY - 2007-08 Business Directory – The Parent
Survey results have come back and the PTO is evaluating how
best to proceed with the ACS Business Directory. Based upon
response, we feel that in order to meet the needs of the
ACS Community, we must put out a product of higher quality,
more professional, and with a larger selection of businesses.
If you would be interested in learning more about advertising
in next year’s Directory, or if you have any questions
or comments, please contact Greg Polashock at Greg@GregIsFinancingSolutions.com and put ACS Directory in the Header.

Exciting FUNdraising News!

outstanding staff; it is also an easy way to help satisfy
part of your time commitment to the school.

May’s Chick-Fil-A Restaurant Night is Thursday,

spirit by literally putting your money where your mouth
is!
Thank you for your continued support of this year-long
fundraiser that directly impacts the grades and departments
at ACS!

Don’t forget to check out the teacher “Wish
Lists” located on the ACS website. This is a great
way to support the teachers and departments for the extra
needs and wants that make the teachers jobs easier and
more creative, and ultimately make our students learning
experience even more fun.

ACS NEEDS YOU! If you have your own business or work for
a large corporation, ACS needs you. We need your support
in any and all areas you can think of. Many corporations
have the ability to match donations or make donations, and
you might not even know it. Sometimes all it takes is you
proving you are volunteering and your company can donate
to your school. We need you to go to your Human Resources
Department or your boss and ask them how that company can
give back to your school. Tell us what we can do to facilitate
the donation, and we will do all we can to assist your business.
We can provide any documentation needed for a tax write-off.
Please contact us and let us know how you and your company
can help ACS.
