Labels for Education - there has been a change in what
Campbell's wants. Unfortunately, Campbell's won't accept only
a front label anymore. They now want the UPC's on most things...anything
that has a paper label for the most part. They still want lids
like they did before. The website is www.labelsforeducation.com.

Taekwondo is back and scheduled for March!
This is a great opportunity for the kids and the school. All proceeds will be
returned to benefit ACS! The orientation for the program will be on March 3,
2007 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM for all the participants and their parents to go
over pertinent information about the after school enrichment program. Our famous
U.S. Taekwondo Center Demonstration team will perform and start the classes
the following week.
The class choices are as follows: 2 classes per week
- Mondays, Wednesdays are 5:10 to 6:00 PM
- Tuesdays and Thursdays are 4:20-5:10 or 6:00 - 7:00 PM
The cost will be $40 per student for 4 weeks of lessons

soon. Make your check out to Academy Charter School and pay
at the school direct.
Abrakadoodle - Join us for an all-new exciting session
of Abrakadoodle as we create masterpieces with paint and
a variety of other medium. Children will learn
about different artists, materials, art vocabulary, and
techniques through engaging art activities. Contemporary
and master artists are featured and most lessons are framed
to help proudly display each Doodler’s work. Not
just for the future artists - classes are structured to
bolster self-confidence and pride in creating a finished
product, while teaching art history, method and skills.
Always a new lesson!
- Cost: $45.00 per session (materials included)
- Classes meet in the Art Room after school for
75 minutes
- Please send your child with an after school snack

For entry, please contact Sherry Hill.
Please note - the Abrakadoodle class instructor will bring
the kids to the lobby once the class is over. For the safety
of the children, the school prefers that parents please not
wander the halls.
Mad Science – Motion, Ocean, Commotion!! Students
will experiment with the forces that move planes, traims
and automobiles… and dive into the study of life
under the sea! Classes will run from February
22 through April 10 on Tuesdays, with no class March 27,
due to Spring Break. Early registration deadline is February
16. The fee is $75/class and we only need five participants
in order to conduct this fun learning activity. If you
sign up by February 16, you will get a $5 discount! Registration
forms were included in a previous Friday Folder. Forms
may also be picked up at the front office of the school.
- The folks at the Mad Science of Colorado have experienced
recent issues with their online registration over the last
week or two. They have record of seven ACS students’ online
registrations. If you registered your child for this enrichment
program online we recommend you confirm your registration
with Trish Loucks at Tloucks@madscience.tv We
apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you.

Hill at s.hill@beef.org or

PTO Social Committee coordinates Teacher Breakfasts on a
monthly basis.
Our next Teacher Breakfast is February the 23rd.
Other upcoming dates to remember - Teacher Luncheon during
conferences is the 8th and 9th of March.
Teacher Breakfasts is a great and easy way to not only
show support for our outstanding staff; it is also an easy
way to help satisfy part of your time commitment to the
school.
To learn more about helping, contact Allyson Ford at allyson4d@hotmail.com.
BIG CHANGE – Please make
note – We will
be discontinuing Applebee’s restaurant nights and
replacing with different restaurants. March’s RED
ROBIN night is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th, and
will benefit our Music Department. Information is not
yet available regarding whether a flyer will be needed,
but please keep an eye out in upcoming “Friday” Folders.
March’s Chick-Fil-A Restaurant Night is Thursday,
March 15th and will be for the benefit of our 5th Grade
classes. Everyone is welcome to participate and, 5th
Grade Families, this is a great chance to show your school
spirit by literally putting your money where your mouth
is!
Thank you for your continued support of this year-long
fundraiser that directly impacts the grades and departments
at ACS!

Don’t forget to check out the teacher “Wish
Lists” located on the ACS website. This is a great
way to support the teachers and departments for the extra
needs and wants that make the teachers jobs easier and
more creative, and ultimately make our students learning
experience even more fun.

ACS NEEDS YOU! If you have your own business or work for
a large corporation, ACS needs you. We need your support
in any and all areas you can think of. Many corporations
have the ability to match donations or make donations, and
you might not even know it. Sometimes all it takes is you
proving you are volunteering and your company can donate
to your school. We need you to go to your Human Resources
Department or your boss and ask them how that company can
give back to your school. Tell us what we can do to facilitate
the donation, and we will do all we can to assist your business.
We can provide any documentation needed for a tax write-off.
Please contact us and let us know how you and your company
can help ACS.
Misty O’leary
PTO President
jimandmisty@comcast.net

Our next General Meeting is scheduled for April 7th. Among
other issues, the public will be voting for 2007-08 officer
positions.
Please remember that part of the twenty-hour volunteer
requirement for ACS families is to attend one PTO Meeting
during the school year!
PTO Elections will be taking place at our April
General Meeting. This is a great way to be actively involved
with the school and get your volunteer hours. If you think
you may be interested in joining the Board for the 2007-08
school year, contact Misty O’Leary at jimandmisty@comcast.net.
Agendas for all meetings will be posted on the PTO Board
just inside the school entrance at least five days before
each meeting
Please Attend PTO General Meetings!!
The Board noticed a marked absence of parents at this, our first General Meeting
of the year. The PTO Board believes active parent involvement is vital. Since
there are only four scheduled General Meetings throughout the year, and part
of the ACS parent responsibility is to attend at least one PTO Meeting during
the year, the PTO Board is pleased to work with the 8th grade class in providing
free babysitting services during our General Meetings for the rest of the
school-year.
