  • Thursday May 18 – (Field day, 1:30 dismissal) Chic-fil-A day!

Take note that this Thursday, after field day (carpool at 1:30!) take the kids to Chic-fil-A on Founders Parkway (by Target) for ACS Restaurant Day! Actually the fundraiser is ANY TIME (breakfast, lunch or dinner) on Thurday May 18. Drive-through is included too. Just BE SURE to TELL them you are with Academy Charter School, and Chic-fil-A will return over 10% of the sales generated by ACS families. Hope you can take advantage of this easy fundraiser to help the school, enjoy some good food and hopefully have a more relaxing for you as well.

(Date to be announced.) Keep watching for flyers over the summer break announcing the Garage-sale-style ACS uniform swap to be held at the S&S store in downtown Castle Rock. This sale is intended to be exclusively for ACS families and will trade only ACS dress-code-approved clothing, new or used, at that time. New! this year, Hoodies in red or hunter green will be available.

ACS PTO receives $1 per shirt sold. Please watch for this event in July! Information flyers will be mailed and/or Emailed to your home telling more about it.

The last general PTO meeting is Monday, May 15th at 6:00 PM in the ACS cafeteria. A requirement of the school is for parents to attend at least one PTO meeting each year to remain in good standing. This last meeting will hold voting by YOU, ALL ACS Parents, for the next board members of PTO. All board member positions must be voted in, save the treasurer, which is a 2-year appointment and will be Bonnie Buckley. Anyone interested in running should let Kate Fischer know (303-688-8461) ahead of the meeting if possible. Feel free to contact any current board members with questions about the positions.

This is also the meeting for your ideas about fundraising for next year (what is a worthy fundraiser, timing of events, and any other suggestions) to help improve our fundraising for the school , and the experience for the parents and students. Please consider writing your suggestions, as this will streamline the meeting. The new PTO Board will then plan over the summer and have plans ready at registration, so that parent will know from the beginning of school the fundraisers and dates, so parents can plan accordingly and so other fundraisers (not related to PTO) will also know what is going on. This will also allow for parents to think ahead toward the fundraisers for which they would like to volunteer.
