- Fri., April 28 – last day to register for EXPO (testing
day – no school)
- Sat., May 13 – Education EXPO
- Mon., May 15 – last
PTO meeting of the year. Voting (**date changed from Tues.
May16)
- Wed., May 24 – Golf Event: contact Jim Acosta immediately
(April 28).

It’s the last PTO meeting of the year. There will be voting
for new board members, a wrap-up of the year financially, and your
last chance to be heard in this setting. The date was changed to
Monday, May 15 at 6:00 at ACS.
We need to elect our ACS PTO board members for next year. If you
cannot attend but are interested in running for a position, please
contact Kate Fischer at 303-688-8461 or Kate2.Fischer@comcast.net.
If we do not have a complete PTO board to take over next year,
all PTO funds and accounts will be turned
over to the Douglas County School District and they decide how
ACS PTO money is spent. Currently,
there are only two of the seven members needed to complete next
year’s PTO board. The following are descriptions of the board
positions.
President. The President presides over meetings of the Organization,
prepares and distributes an agenda to members of the Board, is
an unofficial member of all PTO committees, coordinates the work
of officers and committees in order to promote the goal and objectives
of the PTO. Misty O’Leary has volunteered to act as President.
The Secretary keeps an accurate record of meetings, and posts
them to a ledger. The Secretary attends to correspondence for the
PTO, and has a current copy of the bylaws. This membership has
no candidate for next year at this time.
Treasurer for next year is incumbent Bonnie Buckley, as it is
a two-year position.
Enrichment Coordinator provides supplementary enriching, cultural
experiences for students of ACS. This membership has no
candidate for next year at this time.
Communications facilitates the exchange of ideas, thoughts, and
information between the school, parents and the community. This
includes newsletters, handbooks, bulletin boards, telephone trees
and community service projects. This position has no
candidate for next year at this time.
Social Committee enhances parents’ involvement and education,
increases community involvement, coordinates local and state
interaction and develops pride in our school. This includes hospitality,
school spirit, teacher appreciation, Colorado Awards and scholarships.
This position has no candidate for next year at this time.
Fundraising Committee is to provide funds for the Organization
for operation, enrichment, cultural arts, classroom incentives,
and gifts to the school. This includes planning and carrying
out fundraisers. This committee, along with the Treasurer, will
establish a budget for the Organization in the spring of the
preceding year. This position has no candidate for next
year at this time.
Please consider filling one of these important roles to keep financial
decisions for our school IN our school. Without a PTO board, the
decisions and money will be taken out of our hands.

One parent volunteer is needed to look over PTO financial books
and verify the legitimacy of the record keeping this past year.
(The books are also verified by a PTO financial officer and a governing
board member to ensure proper conduct and reporting of PTO funds.)
Please contact Bonnie Buckley at bonnie_buckley@hotmail.com.
The treasurers of the PTO provide the following income figures
by FUND RAISER for 2005/06.

*S&S has polo shirts (ACS dress code approved):
50/50 Polos $8.99, Cotton Pique $9.99, Long sleeved $11.99
ACS PTO receives $1 per shirt sold. The hoodies (in new red, or
hunter green) will be available at the July Uniform Swap to be
held in the S&S parking lot. This will be garage-sale-style.
(All items not sold may be put on consignment.) Watch for flyers
over the summer break.
The total above does not include income to be generated from the
Education Expo or the Spring Golf Tournament, which will be included
as funds raised this year.
Remember, the ACS-PTO...all ACS parents …were able to donate
$35,000 for new computers in 2006!! Jessica Herbert and all the
PTO board members wish to thank all of the parents, students, and
staff who have participated in any (or all!) of these many fundraisers.
Thanks for all of your efforts to support our kids and improve
our school!!

We especially thank the sponsors providing us with the
means to bring you EXPO. Please remember to support these
outstanding community businesses.

Thank you to the 116 students currently registered for the

appreciate your support of this exciting fundraiser. Thanks
also to the office staff for helping us with the registration
forms, as well as any and everything asked of them to help
make this event run smoothly. Thank you to Robert Fortelka
for the great job in helping us get out the advertising and
reminders via email, as with all our PTO email. Many thanks
to the teachers for motivating and encouraging the students.
Thank you to all the parents who have passed on their words
of excitement and encouragement regarding this first-time
fundraiser. To those who were unable to attend but wanted
to, thank you for your understanding. Hopefully next year,
the Expo committee can better accommodate those kids who
can only come for a half -day, due to other commitments.
A sincere thank you to parents whose child could not attend,
but made a donation toward this fundraiser.
Sincere thanks go to all the parents who have already signed
up to volunteer at this event. Many thanks go to Wendy Walker
and Gala Meyer for making the endless phone calls asking
for volunteers. Thank you to the committee chairs who are
helping make this fundraiser a very special and unique experience
for our students.
Remember, the final deadline for registering for this new
and exciting fundraiser is April 28th. Registration forms
cannot be accepted after this date.
We are still need volunteer help for this event, so if you
need to complete your 20 required hours for the year, please
contact Misty O’Leary at 303-688-6631 or at jimandmisty@comcast.net to volunteer.
Thank you to the Education Expo Committee:
- Ellen Neal-Eakin, Programs Coordinator
- Katherine Titus, Sponsorship
Coordinator
- Misty O’Leary, Chairperson

Thanks to all parents who responded to the Invesco fundraising
opportunity. Unfortunately, not enough people volunteered to
make this feasible. We needed to commit to 10-12 events, with
at least 12 persons working each event. We had, at most, enough
volunteers to cover 2 events. This would be a terrific fundraising
activity, especially for those sports fans out there, but maybe
next year (2007-2008) will be our year for working Invesco. Thanks
for your feedback.
Hoping you enjoy the lovely spring weekend,
Victoria Arnett
