Thursday, February 16 is the Chick-fil-A day! All patrons of Chick-fil-A on Founders Parkway who mention they are part of ACS will earn money for our school. This is true for ANY TIME Thursday Feb. 16 (breakfast, lunch or dinner) and even using the drive-thru service. Best of all, this year they are offering more generous splits above the standard 10% based on the ACS generated sales. Please take advantage of this easy fundraiser to help the school, enjoy some good food and friends, and hopefully make your life easier as well. Just be sure to MENTION YOU ARE FROM ACS!! Enjoy!

The PTO’s big fundraiser for the year will be the Education Expo on May 13th from 10am-3pm. If you are interested in volunteering on a committee or during an event, please contact one of the following committee chairs.

Decorations Committee: Mindy Whitworth (mwhitworth@phhc.com)
Setup/Cleanup Committee: Jackie Radcliffe (Jackie_Radcliffe@msn.com)
Sign-In/Sign-Out Committee: Sean Templeton (sjketempleton@msn.com)
Auction Baskets: Julie Harkin (toddpaco@aol.com)
Food Committee: Kindra Whitmyre-Nelson (nelsonk@academycharter.org)
Volunteer Coordinator: Wendy Walker (dwwalker1990@msn.com)

The PTO has invited the ACS community to sponsor our Education Expo. If you are interested, please contact Katherine Titus @ katitus@comcast.net. Remember, this is a great way to get advertisement for you business, as well as support your children’s school.

Mark your calendars for March 16th, March 17th, March 20th and March 21st! Classroom baskets will be on display for bidding on these days. Please check your Friday Folders for reminders of this exciting event. Attend the March 21st PTO General Meeting and continue bidding until 6:30pm, when the bidding will end and the PTO Meeting will begin. After the meeting, basket winners will be announced, but you do not have to be present to win!

REMEMBER, the PTO will add surprise gifts from Theatre of Dreams, Karate for Kids, Danza Dance Academy and Art Explorers to random baskets, as an added incentive. Please contact your classroom coordinators if you have any questions about your class basket.

If you can volunteer during the displaying and bidding of the baskets, please contact Julie Harkin at 303-663-4839 or toddpaco@aol.com.

The Believe Spring Catalog campaign starts today (Friday, Feb. 10). These are all new items for spring and also Festival of Foods items. The campaign closes February 24 so that all ordered items can be delivered before the spring break.

We're still looking for a few good chefs to make the Feb 24th PTO breakfast complete. This is a great way to get volunteer hours! The food needs to be at school by 7:30 next Friday morning, and non-perishables can be dropped off the afternoon before. If you can help out, please call Jackie Radcliffe at 303-663-7498, or email her at jackie_radcliffe@msn.com Thanks!

There will be an art enrichment program at ACS in the art room. The instructor is Janessa Marsh, from Academy of Art. She offers two 6-week classes beginning in April 2006.

The first class will be for Kindergarten to 4th graders. It includes drawing, painting and ceramics, and is held from 3:45 to 4:45 PM on Mondays (4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1 and 5/8). There is a fee of $85 per student.

The second class, for 5th through 8th graders, will include drawing and painting and meets from 3:45 to 4:45 PM on Thursdays (4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4 and 5/11). There is a $72 fee for this class.

A minimum of 10 students must be pre-registered with fees paid for each of these classes to take place. Student registration forms will be sent home in Friday folders in the near future and will also be available at the ACS front office.
