Academy Charter School will celebrate its 3rd Annual Fall Festival
on Saturday, October 29th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! This community-wide
event features a variety of activities for all ages, including carnival-type
games with prizes, pony rides, an inflatable obstacle course, toy and
cake walks, hair and face painting, and much more. Tickets for all
activities can be purchased at the school Tuesday Oct.11th through
Thursday Oct. 13th for 5 for $1. So buy early and save! Tickets will
be 4 for $1 the day of the event. Lunch will also be available at the
Festival, so bring your cash for Chick-Fil-A or use your tickets for
Little Caesar’s pizza, Starbucks coffee, as well as hot dogs,
chips and drinks.
Parents we still need your help with donations for
prizes for the Fall Festival. Items needed include individually wrapped
bags of candy,
colorful pencils, fun erasers, new ink pens, or small prizes that
can be purchased at Wal-mart, Target, or any party store. We could
also
use any 1 gallon size buckets with handles to distribute prizes the
day of the event.
Classroom coordinators, we still need your volunteer
schedules of parents working their respective game throughout the
Fall Festival. Please
provide your information to Misty O’Leary at jimandmisty@comcast.net or 303.688.6631 as soon as possible.
As you can see, our committees
are hard at work to make it a success and could use your help. To
volunteer, sign up on our PTO Festival
bulletin board in the ACS foyer or contact Tina Rolle at 720.733.1542.
Thanks for your time!
Questions or comments?? Contact Jessica Herbert at tinkerbuzz42@msn.com or 303.688.4262 or Katherine Titus at katitus@comcast.net or
720.733.2658. Thanks for all you do to make ACS a great place
for our kids to be!
Play ‘N’ Trade Campaign
Beginning today (October 7) and running through November 12
you can buy used video games from Play-N-Trade (in the
PetSmart shopping center) for a 10% discount IF YOU HAVE YOUR
ACS FLYER with you. At the end of the campaign, 20% of all
sales from the ACS flyers will be given back to ACS. This is
a great way to help a local retailer help our school! Additional
flyers are in the lobby. Share them with friends and family.
It’s a great way to get a jump on Christmas.
There’s still time to submit orders for our current
fundraiser, the Believe catalog! This fundraiser officially
ends on Thursday, October 6th. Please submit your orders no
later than Monday, October 10th for processing. After Monday
we will not be able to take your order. If you are interested
in volunteering to assist with processing orders, please join
us in the ACS cafeteria on Friday, October 7th at 9:00AM or
Tuesday, October 11th at 12:00PM.
Remember that if you prefer not to participate in fundraisers,
cash or check donations are always welcome by the ACS - PTO.
We greatly appreciate your support, which goes directly to
help the students of Academy Charter.

Mad Science is coming! This is a course of six lessons offered
Tuesdays after school in the months of November and December.
Each week explores a different area of science. Register now
online (www.madscience.tv),
by phone (303-403-0432), or by mail (registration forms are
available at the ACS office).
Registering before October 19 saves you $5 off the $69 cost
for the program. A similar program may be offered again in
late winter. Have questions? Contact Sherry Hill (303) 814-2115,
s.hill@beef.org.
Uniform Exchange
There has been much interest in finding ways to get better
use out of outgrown, ACS approved clothing. Sherry Hill and
Julie Benzel are working to bring this event during parent – teacher
conferences (October 27 – 28). If you have interest
in selling, buying or finding out more about reusing “uniforms” please
call Sherry right away. There is little time to put this
event together. Sherry Hill (303) 814-2115, s.hill@beef.org.
Some of the funds raised so far will be going teacher trainings
and seminars fees, sound-equipment for classrooms, new keyboards
and updating computers, dry erase boards and updates to reading
enrichment.
Entertainment- and Gold C- Book Sales Results:
Thank you to Cinzia Bale, Peter & Jan Cline, Jessica
Herbert and Katherine Titus for all of their hard work
on processing our many Entertainment book orders! We appreciate
the support we received from the students, parents and
staff for this fundraiser. We raised nearly $8400 in net
earnings for the ACS PTO! These funds will be used toward
updating student computers in the school.
Golf Outing Results:
The general consensus is “it was a lot of fun!” and
$1555 went to ACS as net earnings. Many thanks go out to
Jimmie Acosta, Michael Anderson, Jenn Kelly, Karen Anderson
and Red Hawk Golf Course. We are hoping to repeat the event
in the future.
Koins for Kids Results:
Selling the oil change cards brought in $1,122 net earnings
for our school. Also there was $260 in cash donations.
ACS now has $1,382 to go toward improvements for our
school. Some key findings here were that the PTO really
needs the help of parents in fund raising, and we do
need more parents to help. We did, however, find it was
important to have the students present to increase sales
to the public.

Make plans for Red Robin night, coming November 3. Watch
for details in the Friday folder on how you can enjoy your
meal while ACS earns money through your patronage.
Hoping
you have a great weekend,
Victoria Arnett
