September:

  • Believe Catalogue Kickoff - 9/22

October:

  • Golf event - 10/1
  • Trade and Play - 10/7
  • Fall Carnival - 10/29
  • General PTO meetings this year, unfortunately, will not be providing food or child watching services, as we are more financially constrained then in the past. Last Tuesday’s meeting went well with some good feedback on ways to improve our fundraisers and time-planning so far. The next general PTO meeting is November 15 at 6:00 PM. Feel free to contact any of the PTO board members with your concerns or ideas you have for us. (See list, left side)
  • We have need for a volunteer to help get PTO volunteers! We have found that much of the footwork in getting things done could be distributed more evenly among our ACS parents (and the PTO board members, plus a select few are having difficulty covering all the jobs). We are looking to take on a parent (or two) who could establish phone trees, and work with the board making contacts with other parents. You’d get to know people and get credit for chatting! (contact Karen Anderson, 720-733-0501)
  • Watch for “Play ‘N’ Trade”, coming October 7, where you will be able to purchase used video games at 10% off, with 20% of profits going right to ACS!
  • There are tentative plans for a “uniform store” at the carnival, so hang on to all those solid polo shirts without emblems that are too small …and the like.
  • Watch for “Restaurant Nights” where, on a given night, the ACS community can enjoy a local eatery at a discount, and …you guessed it, ACS makes some money.
  • We have great desire to speak with anyone who knows a thing or two about sound muffling, or acoustics in general, to better understand how we could improve our school. (contact Kate Fischer 303-688-8461)

Many thanks to our volunteers who have signed on to help with the first breakfast for teachers & staff on Friday, September 30. The food needs to be delivered to ACS by 7:30 AM please. Contact Jackie Radcliffe at 303-663-7498 email: Jackie_radcliffe@msn.com if you have questions. Thanks, again, for supporting the staff!

Today (Sept. 22) is the kickoff for Believe catalog items. Your student(s) should be coming home with the catalog and information about the fundraiser in today’s Friday-(well, Thursday-) folder. We hope you enjoy looking it over, as it is a more relaxing fundraiser than most.

Golf tournament: October 1st, 1:30, Red Hawk. If you (and maybe your foursome) have not yet turned in your reservation, please do so quickly. We have gone beyond our minimum number required for the event …so it is going to be GREAT! And it will raise funds for ACS. However, if all the reservations are turned in right away, we can better plan for an event that’s going to be REALLY GREAT! Please contact Karen Anderson (720-733-0501)

The campaign for Entertainment- and Gold C-books is in its “wrapping up” phase. To date, we grossed over $19,000 in sales. Way to go!! (more details as they are available). Please PLEASE if you still have a book that you did not sell, give it back to the ACS office so more of this money grossed will go directly to net earnings for our school. Also, if you would like to support the school without purchasing the books, and still keep us on track for our financial goal, you can donate directly to the PTO. For this campaign our goal was for each student to raise $28 in net earnings. The money PTO raises goes to the school.

Koins for Kids campaign finished yesterday (Sept. 21). The total earnings are not yet available, but we will let you know soon. We want to thank all the volunteer parents who really helped out with this event: Sally Rehmann, Sharon Hunter, Kathy Hedeen, Susan Trost, Misty O’Leary, Kate Fischer, Karen Anderson, Katherine Titus, Kate Feldman and most especially Michael Anderson for his commitment in managing this event. Thank you to these folks and all the students who sold cards, which helped to reduce the ACS budget deficit. If you would like to help us meet our financial goal without participating in sales, the direct contribution equivalent for this even is $30 per student.

Carnival will be Saturday, October 29, from 10 AM to 4 PM and the Castle Rock community is invited!

The carnival plans are underway and most subcommittees have a chair now; however, we need many hands to make this event live up to its reputation. Each subcommittee is looking for parent volunteers to help carry the plans through. Contact Katherine Titus (katitus@comcast.net, 720-733-2658) or Jessica Herbert (tinkerbuzz42@msn.com, 303-688-4262) so you can help out with all the fun.

Attention all classroom coordinators! Misty O’Leary is organizing the classroom games, and she needs to hear from you. Each classroom needs to provide Misty with the game you are hosting for carnival (by next week) and a schedule of the parents managing the game (by Sept. 30) please. (Misty jimandmisty@comcast.net, 303-688-6631.)

Hoping you have a great weekend,
Victoria Arnett
