Dear Parents;
We are
starting a mitten and hat drive for the less fortunate you can bring in gentle
used of new items for the month of November.
A quick glance into the future December 17th is our winter
program. The time is 5:30-6:30. We are now talking and learning about Native Americans
and the Pilgrims. This week we started
making our talking sticks. Ask them to
tell you some fun facts that they know. Please
don’t forget to check your child’s Friday folder. If you want to eat lunch with your on Thursday
the 20th please turn in your yellow luncheon paper. Also my homework sight is up and I have
listed the homework. I will update it
every Monday.

Math: We
have just finish lessons 51-54 the focus was patterns AB, ABB ABBA. We are working on writing numbers
correctly. Please have your children
practice writing numbers 1-9 Lessons. Overview: 51-60: During this unit of lesson we
are comparing objects by weight using a balance, writing the number 9 and 10
and creating and reading an ABB color pattern.
We will also be working paying for items to 10 cents using pennies.
Math At Home:
Here are some fun things you can do to help your child practice the math
he or she is learning in school. *
Gather a set of four objects of various weights from very heavy to very
light. Ask your child to compare the
weights and try to put the objects in order from heaviest to lightest. Have your child tell you which comes first,
second third and fourth. New Math Words:
Balance, Geoboard and
Least.

Arts:
This
week we are reading Our Special Sweet Potato Pie. A boy and his family want to make a sweet
potato pie for his Daddy’s birthday. But
the potatoes they pick start to roll down a hill. Everyone in the neighborhood tries to catch
them. We learning that we can use a
story clues, and what we already know to figure out things the writer doesn’t
say. We can tell from a picture in the
books that Mr. Mason owns the bakery.
