Greetings
from the Gym!
You
can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of
conversation.

This is what
we have been doing in Physical Education this month:
In
Kindergarten we have been working on classroom procedures like lining up,
taking turns and how to stretch. Kindies
have learned new games like British Bulldog, which is a tagging game. They have worked on their hand eye coordination
with catching and throwing bouncy balls and foxtails. Jake the Snake is a game that teaches them
jumping skills, and they love it! They
are getting into the routine and are having a lot of fun.
1st
and 2nd grades, have been playing some tagging games like capture
the flag and tracker tag. We also have been playing some 4 way soccer. Track and field has been a big hit as they
have been practicing sprinting out of the starting blocks and long jumping in
our new long jump pit! We continue to
concentrate on safety, learning rules, and sportsmanship.
3rd-5th
grades, have been playing tagging games like capture the flag. We have also been working on our kicking
skills while we play soccer and kickball.
Classes loved the track and field events as we incorporated sprinting,
long jumping and relays.
In grades 6th-8th we
began a new unit in soccer. Rules of the
game, as well as passing, dribbling and shooting are practiced throughout the
quarter. A written soccer test will be
given at the end of the unit to test for knowledge.
Sincerely,
